About

Work:

I am currently a full-time PhD student in the University of Minnesota Learning Technologies program in the College of Education and Human Development. I am a graduate instructor at the University of Minnesota and an adjunct instructor at the Minnesota School of Business, St. Cloud Campus.

I am also a marketing guru, a web designer, and graphic designer. I have spent the past 15 years designing and managing websites ranging from e-commerce sites to university websites and have led all sorts of social media campaigns—Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.

I believe education is the key to empowering individuals and technology has the power to make education more accessible and engaging to learners. I am combining my passions and love what I do.

Personal:

I am a Minnesota native and currently live in St. Stephen, MN. I am passionate about technology and how it can be used to effectively communicate and connect with people. I am a proud geek; my favorite author is Frank Herbert, my favorite movie is Time Bandits, and I have a tattoo honoring the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'm happily married to an IT professional and have three four-legged "kids" — two cats (Spencer and Tricksy) and a clown and sidekick of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Dot.

Passions:

technology, learning, inspiring and empowering others, marketing and understanding people (what makes them tick, what engages them, and what makes them act), reading, knitting, running

Little Known Fact:

Once bought a car because a particular TV advertisement resonated with me and my lifestyle. This taught me a lot about the power of effective messaging and what can happen when you really connect with your audience.
